Who Wins The Cleanser War?

This Week’s Pop 5 Products…

You’ve heard of the cola war? If you haven’t, that a sure sign you weren’t alive and/or paying attention in the 80’s. See back in the 80’s there was full on assault between Coke and Pepsi to win the cola war!

Coke had the cute polar bears at Christmas and they sponsored the Olympics. Pepsi needed to a win – so they enlisted the super hyped fame of Michael Jackson. Then there was the blind taste test, the ever famous #PepsiChallenge, where Pepsi tried to prove they were just as good ask Coke. Come on, that’s clearly a 2nd place strategy.

What does Coke + Pepsi have to do with skincare? There’s an ever present war in skincare too! The Great Cleanser War. – Cream or Gel? The great cleanser war in the spa world is real! Dry skin? Oily skin? Winter? Summer? Personal Preference? Mature Skin? So many variables to consider. It’s so hard to decide what is real and what is folklore.

We’ve all heard the stories Cleopatra bathing in milk for better skin. Really? She lived in the dessert, can you imagine the smell? I mean, it’s all fun and games until your in the tub pouring bottles of milk over yourself – praying it will take the crow’s feet away! What about aloe vera gel? Ever have anyone tell you that all they use is aloe vera gel to care for their skin?

Folklore, old wives tales, myths be damned! There really are some valid reasons to use a cream based cleanser! Many of them have some exceptional calming benefits which is great to treat Rosacea. April is Rosacea Awareness Month, so here at Lipgloss + Aftershave, we want to showcase products that will calm and soothe the skin. Creamy cleansers are a great way to soothe and calm!
