Proper Hydration For Optimal Skin Health

Proper Hydration For Optimal Skin Health

Proper hydration ensures a healthy immune system and increased ATP production. We rely on the nutrients that are carried through our bloodstream, and our bloodstream is almost entirely made up of water. If you aren’t properly hydrated your body can’t efficiently transport nutrients to your organs. Hydration also increases lymphatic draining and assists in detoxifying the body.

What to Drink For Proper Hydration
Making sure you are drinking enough water is the easiest way to stay hydrated! You should be drinking half your bodyweight in ounces a day. Drinking herbal tea, alkalized water, and something with electrolytes like coconut water are all great options for staying hydrated.

It is important to remember to slowly sip your water throughout the day instead of drinking it quickly. This ensures your body is retaining and absorbing the water. Staying hydrated and drinking water is the same thing as putting gas or oil in your car. Your car can’t properly function without has or oil, and you can’t properly function while dehydrated.

What Not To Drink For Proper Hydration
Caffeine and alcohol are two of the biggest things that lead to dehydration Dehydration can lead to a slew of issues like muscle pain, headaches, and grogginess.  A good rule of thumb is to drink one cup of water for each cup of coffee you consume, and two cups of water for each alcoholic beverage you consume.

Hydration isn’t just about drinking water, it’s about making sure water is getting inside your cells. You can do this by improving the electrical charges across your cellular membranes. Potassium is great for helping those little electrical charges.

The skin is your body’s biggest organ and the first step to healthy skin is proper hydration. Using a plant-based topical moisturizer is a great way to preserve and keep your skin hydrated. You can refer to the L+A Winter Hydration Skincare Guide for products and devices to help improve hydration.

Pro-Tip On Proper Hydration
Ceramides are lipids that are found naturally in the skin. Using a ceramide rich moisturizer on your skin will help lock in moisture and put a protective moisture barrier on your skin. Ceramides work in a similar way to hyaluronic acid which is also great for keeping your skin hydrated. Hyaluronic acid replenishes and retains cell moisture, forming a protective barrier. When the skin is moisturized and protected it allows for more cell production thus reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and keeping your skin smooth. I also recommend mists for hydration you can make your own with rose water and glycerin or i love the DNA hydro-blend and osmosis boost peptide boost.

“The best part of my job is being able to help people. A lot of people aren’t aware that some of the things they use or consume are causing real issues. I have clients who come in saying they have bad skin, but really they just need to make small changes in their routine or in their products.”

At Heather Nicole, we specialize and focus on skincare and wellness. Beauty from the inside out. We are known for our cutting edge combination therapy treatments, organic stem cell therapy, peels, and non-surgical facelifts. We seek out natural and organic products that yield great results. We stand behind all of the products we use – as we use them – and we always make sure the client leaves the spa relaxed and rejuvenated. Also, we love to arm our clients with tips and tricks they can use on their own so they can always feel and look their best.

Often you’ll find that a spa will offer either results or relaxation, but we like to provide both. We try to maintain an elegant yet zen vibe for our clients. We aim to make people feel comfortable, pampered, and gorgeous.
