Does This L+A Trendsetter Love The Perfect Derma Peel?

The Perfect Derma Peel is on the top of this L+A Trendsetter’s list to kick off peel season!

Yes, peel season is here, this might be an esthetician’s favorite time of year because finally, we can play around with the not so “summer safe” treatments.

What is a chemical peel you might ask? A Chemical peel is a treatment that uses a variety of low PH acids to exfoliate the skin, improve the texture and overall tone of the skin and address concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne, and hyperpigmentation.

Hi, I’m Jewellee! The face behind Crown Jewel Esthetics. I hail from the city of Philadelphia, where I was born and raised. Yes, in west Philadelphia too, if you felt inclined to sing the song! However, instead of spending most of my days on the playground, I spent most of my days playing in my Mom’s Avon makeup bag, as I’m sure many 90’s babes can relate.

My love for beauty started very early on, from watching my Mom (who sold Avon on the side) get ready for work every morning, never leaving the house without eye-shadow and lipstick (still to this day), to making sure her hair and nails were/are done every two weeks. My mom showed me the importance of self-care and self-maintenance, and despite all the hours she worked, she still found time to make sure she looked and felt good — all while dealing with me at the same time. Bless her! Seriously.  Read More About Jewelle…

Preparing The Client for A Peel

Your clients’ skin should be thoroughly prepared before applying a chemical peel.  To achieve this – be sure their homecare should consist of active ingredients such as acids, antioxidants, and tyrosinase inhibitors.

In addition to their homecare be sure their acid mantles and hydration levels are intact to avoid damaging the skin or causing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

We’re Testing The Perfect Derma Peel

One peel that’s been hot in our industry and that I have just brought into my clinic is The Perfect Derma Peel by Bella Medical Products.

The Perfect DermaPeel is a safe, effective medium depth peel for All Skin Types & Ethnicities. This product is virtually painless, with no pre-peel skin preparation and little downtime. The Perfect DermaPeel is the only peel that includes the powerful anti-oxidant Glutathione, which lightens and brightens the skin, slows down the aging process, and helps prevent wrinkles.

The Perfect Derma Peel uses one of the holy grail antioxidants, Glutathione, along with a variety of peel boosters to separate it from your typical chemical peel.

The core of the peel line, The perfect peel, consists of TCA, Phenol, Vitamin A, Salicylic, L- Ascorbic acid, Glutathione, and Kojic acid and has a PH of 1.3-1.4. If you know anything about peels or ingredients, most peels only contain one, two, or three of these ingredients.

The beauty of blending all of these ingredients together is that this peel is able to treat a variety of concerns at once. It’s great for the esthetician because don’t have to stock a large amount of peels. The Perfect Derma Peel is truly a fix it all peel.  However, there’s an added bonus!   The Cherry on top of the Cake is that this peel comes with peel boosters to really target specific concerns that the base formulation is unable to treat.

4 Layers Of The Perfect Derma Peel on A Fitzpatrick 4

I tested this peel on my employee Krisstan who is of Asian descent, acneic, and a Fitzpatrick 4 dealing with hyperpigmentation.  We applied 4 layers of the peel with the addition of the perfect plus booster, which contains the same ingredients as the peel to increase the percentages of each ingredient to really address the concerns mentioned above.

Boosters in The Perfect Derma Peel

The Perfect Derma Peel also comes with other boosters such as the plus booster which has the addition of 4% hydroquinone and 1% hydrocortisone. There’s also the clear acne booster with the addition of Benzoyl Peroxide and hydrocortisone.  Having these booster options is going to make your clients’ treatments even more efficacious and will require fewer treatments than your traditional peel series.

The Perfect Derma Peel Perfect for Fitzpatricks 4 – 6

This peel is truly beneficial for anyone with skin concerns that aren’t just clearing up with regular home care.  As always with peels, you should use extreme caution with Fitzpatricks 4 – 6, when properly prepped this peel is a wonderful option for those darker Fitzpatricks, especially those who are dealing with pigmentation issues.

Always remember with peels use caution and make sure your clients’ skin is prepared for the intense exfoliation, while this peel may cause a little discomfort upon initial application the results are well worth the few seconds of sting!

It is also important to make sure you have your client on the proper home care to address the same issues as the peel treatment.

Your results will only be as good as your aftercare.
