The Nose Knows!

It was a gorgeous summer New York City morning in 1997, I had just purchased the hottest cologne of that year, (I won’t say the name of it to avoid any hate mail)... anyway…… as I was rushing to get ready for work, I stopped and did final check of that day’s look in the mirror.

Smile, Blow A Kiss - FLAWLESS! HA HA HA

ANYWAY…. I grabbed my new fabulous cologne and gave myself a solid triple spritz (HUGE MISTAKE) and rushed out the door… as the cologne mixed with my body heat AND my body chemistry AND the oppressive NYC heat/humidity combination… it happened.  I got so sick!

Ripped My Clothes Off + Jumped In The Shower

This is kind of how it went….I didn’t think anything of it at first, eh, it will dissipate and everything will be ok.  But it didn’t. I started to get a little bit of headache, then a piercing headache. Then I got dizzy and nauseated. I really felt like I was going to faint. The next thing I knew I was ripping my clothes off and jumping in the shower!

The Nose Knows!

To this day if I even come close to that fragrance, I can feel the pounding in my head and the beads of sweat on my face!  It was horrible. I never thought I had an issue with fragrance, but this one made me want to vomit.

While mine is more of an olfactory sensitivity, it is a sensitivity, nonetheless.  I don’t really like skincare products or body care products with a very strong, overly perfumie (is that even a word? LOL) fragrance.  They always make me nauseated.

Sometimes, fragrance just kicks you in the ass.  It can cause reactions that we can’t predict. Skin sensitivity to ingredients that are designed to enhance the fragrance of a product is a very real issue.  Many people are reactive to synthetic fragrances, some are even reactive to anything with a scent, even natural ingredients.

That’s why having fragrance free options is amazing!  We reached out to our friends in the industry and asked who offered products that had no fragrance.  Some of them we already knew and we were so pumped to find a few new options too!

Canna Cream (Non-Scented) by RX Canna Care

Sometimes you just want a skincare product to be just effective and not have an aroma that interferes with the other products you’re using. Legit! If every product you use had a strong, distinct aroma, can you imagine how you’d smell after all your skincare products, all your hair care products, your soap/body wash, your body lotion was applied?  OH MY GOD, I’M GAGGING just thinking about it. It’s bad enough I smell like menthol everyday from all of pain rubs that I have to use. Sometimes, no fragrance is the best gift!
