Barry Had A Dinosaur Massage

[libsyn_podcast id=9131132]

Nothing feels better on these old bones than a Dinosaur Massage!  This incredible massage includes a modality that is, almost, as old as the dinosaurs.  I’m refer to this incredibly therapeutic massage as a dinosaur massage because it, almost, looks like I’m a dinosaur with all of the cups on my back.

Cupping Is An Ancient Wellness Technique

What Is Cupping?

According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine, “Cupping is a practice used in traditional medicine in several parts of the world, including China and the Middle East. It involves creating suction on the skin using a glass, ceramic, bamboo, or plastic cup. Negative pressure is created in the cup either by applying a flame to the cup to remove oxygen before placing it on the skin or by attaching a suction device to the cup after it is placed on the skin.”

About The Whole Massage

I am obsessed with Instagram and found a Yoga Teacher/Massage Therapist/Cupping Therapist in Atlanta while scrolling through my IG feed a few months ago.  When I booked my travel to Atlanta for the Face & Body Spa Expo & Conference, a light bulb came on!  I remembered the article that I wrote on The Dinosaur Massage that my friend Cheryl Miller posted about and thought – “AH HA!  Barry’s Getting A Dinosaur Massage!”

I made an appointment with Yoga by EJ in Atlanta for his Manual Therapy and Cupping Treatment.  This was one of the most therapeutic treatments I’ve ever had and the most painful.  Very deep, isolated pressure was used to release congestion in the fascia in my thighs and hips.  This 49 year old body squats and deadlifts a lot so, there’s a lot of work that needs to be done to help keep me healthy.  EJ used assisted stretching during the treatment along with the applied pressure of his fist and elbow to unlock the fascia and help me have improved range of motion.

Then after all of that torture, he applied cups to help improve the blood flow to the area.

Here using Dynamic cupping to manipulate the tissue on a client with functional scoliosis in the Thoracic spine. ——————————————————————————————— ——————————————————————————————— Straps: @stretchnstraps —————————————————————————————— —————————————————— “ Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that occurs most often during the growth spurt just before puberty. While scoliosis can be caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, the cause of most scoliosis is unknown. Most cases of scoliosis are mild, but some children develop spine deformities that continue to get more severe as they grow. Severe scoliosis can be disabling. An especially severe spinal curve can reduce the amount of space within the chest, making it difficult for the lungs to function properly.” https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/scoliosis/symptoms-causes/syc-20350716 ———————————————————————————————- I am not a doctor. I also do not claim to be able to fix scoliosis with the use of cupping ———————————————————————————————- #revivmovement #movementtherapist #unlockyourpotential #fascialtherapy #personaltrainer #manualtherapy #makeup #str #revivmovement #movementtherapist #unlockyourpotential #fascialtherapy #theombrunch #moremovementmorelife @geesmalls #personaltrainer #manualtherapy #stretchtherapy #massage #chiropractic #physiotherapy #physicaltherapy @billewoodruff #acrofascialrelease #acro #tracknation #olympics #olympian #trackandfield #myodetox #yoga #bodybuilding #dance #dancer #singer #performer

Barry Loves The Dinosaur Massage

I had been dealing with some ongoing pain in my right hip and thigh for a few months. It was drastically diminished after the treatment.  I felt like a million dollars after!  Pain and soreness was gone.  I also had greater mobility.

If you can find a massage that involves cupping near you I highly recommending looking into the treatment to see if it’s right for you.
